I remember some of them.. Real fun.

What a fun article. I look forward to another Urban Legends article from you.

The Wheel Of Fortune story is a neat one!

I actually saw the "Doe...Knob" Password episode when it happened. It's a real story. The Black man (I can't remember if it was Nipsey or not) was the one who said "doe" and the white man answered "knob".... the Black man just froze in place and then fell over in the floor like he died. It was one of the funniest things I ever saw on t.v. I told that story for years and was surprised when I looked it up tonight and see that some believe it never happened.

The password doe knob did happen.  I watched it on TV and remember it clearly.  It was not Jamie Farr or Nipsey Russell, it was Alan Alda giving the clues.  The puzzle answer was "deer".  Alan Alda said "doe," and the black male contestant said "knob", at which point Alan Alda broke out into hysterical laughter leaning way back in his chair.  The contestant froze and looked like he had no clue why there was a lot of laughing.  Funny thing is I can't remember who the female celebrity was.

I remember reading that there was a lawsuit over this.  Maybe all of the stories spreading misinformation about it never happening are related to the lawsuit. I think the contestant was either allowed to return to the show again, or was given a cash settlement, or both.

I remember the incident on the show. It wasn't alan Alda or Nipsey Russell It was Jamie Farr. And the contestant was a black woman, not a man.
